Jeffrey J. Quin, Sr. (1919-2014)
Former Staten Islander Jeffrey J. Quin, Sr. passed away in his home in Clearbrook, Monroe Twp. on Sunday April 6, 2014 at the age of 94. Mr. Quin was a US Navy Veteran, and retired from the New York Police Department in 1967 after over 24 years of service. For most of his career, he was stationed on Staten Island and coordinated all the Police Athletic Programs for the Borough. He then transitioned to Staten Island Community College (later The College of Staten Island) serving as The College's Athletic Equipment and Facilities Manager until full retirement in 1985. Mr. Quin was a semi-professional baseball player after graduating Port Richmond High School, and enjoyed bowling and tennis. He was also an excellent table tennis player. He was a member of NYPD's Holy Name Society, and Staten Island Baseball Old-timers (SIBO).
He was pre-deceased by his wife Ruth I. (Gaughan) Quin in 1998, three brothers, Jerrold, Albert, and Francis, and one sister, Florence Bergin.
He is survived by three children, Terrence Quin and his wife Peg of Holmdel, Susan Ford and her husband James of Staten Island, NY, and Jeffrey J. Quin, Jr. and his wife Grace of San Antonio, TX, nine grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
Visiting hours are 2-6pm on Wednesday April 9, 2014 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am Thursday April 10, 2014 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp., followed by Entombment in Princeton Memorial Park Mausoleum, Robbinsville.
