Phyllis H. Perrine – 87 – Monroe Twp., NJ
Phyllis H. Perrine of Monroe Township passed away on February 20, 2014 at Foothill Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Hillsborough. Phyllis was born to J. Lester and Estelle Hann in Easton, PA and resided in Englishtown before making Monroe Township her home.
Phyllis graduated from Jamesburg High School in 1944 and received her Bachelor's degree in elementary education from Trenton State College in 1948. She was employed by the Manalapan School District and then the Monroe Township School District where she taught elementary school.
Phyllis was an extremely creative woman as well as a gifted painter. Her watercolor paintings were displayed in art shows from New Jersey to Florida. Her original notecards depicting lighthouses, flowers, beach scenes and local landmarks were very popular and highly sought after as gifts for friends and family. She was a Girl Scout leader for her three daughters for many years. Phyllis loved the sun, the summer and all outdoor activity; she taught all of her grandchildren how to swim and dive. Phyllis and her husband Fred were long time members of The Presbyterian Church of Jamesburg.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her sister Virginia (2009), and her son-in-law Richard Canuso (2011).
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Fred, her son Fred L. and his wife Rita of Monroe Township, NJ, three daughters: Deborah Krawiec and her husband George of Stamford, CT, Sarah Canuso of Monroe Township, NJ and Rebekah Poole of Washington, NJ; eight grandchildren: Jessica Carpenito and her husband Craig, Richard Canuso and his wife Jordan, Scott, Alix, Ricky and Trent Perrine and Danielle and Edward Poole, and four great grandchildren: Madison and Leighton Carpenito and Benjamin and Giavanna Canuso. Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers and for those who desire, memorial donations may be made to Jamesburg Presbyterian Church – 175 Gatzmer Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831.
Visitation will be Sunday February 23, 2014 from 2-5pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd. – Monroe Twp., NJ. Funeral services will begin at 5pm. Cremation is private.
