Obituary of Anthony Mercado Jr.

Anthony 'Tony' Mercado, Jr. – 44 – Helmetta, NJ Anthony 'Tony' Mercado, Jr. passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday February 16, 2014 with friends and family by his side. Born in New York City, he lived in the Bronx for three years before moving to Monroe Township where he lived for 30 years. He has resided in Helmetta since 2003. Tony worked as an installer for Suburban Caps in Old Bridge where he worked for seven years. He was an avid poker player and was the director of World Tavern Poker at the Cambridge Inn in Spotswood. He also enjoyed disk jockeying and playing soccer. Tony was preceded in death by his parents Anthony Mercado Sr. (2013) and Angelica (Quinones) Mercado (2008). He is survived by his wife of ten and a half years, Patricia (Moore) and their son Nicholas both of Helmetta, his sister, Tricia A. Mercado of Helmetta, his father-in-law, Thomas Moore Sr. of Edison, his brothers-in-law, Christopher Spano of Helmetta, and Thomas Moore Jr. of Edison, his sister-in-law, Susan Moore of Key West, FL, one niece, Gabriella Spano, three nephews, Christopher Spano and Michael and Cody Moore, and many other extended family members. Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Friday, February 21, 2014 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:15am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood followed by Entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, South Brunswick. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday at the funeral home. For those who desire, memorial contributions would be gratefully appreciated and accepted by the family.
