Olga (Hlubik) Thompson of Monroe Twp., NJ went to be with the Lord on December 30, 2013. She was 83 years old and left this life peacefully at the Elms of Cranbury, surrounded by loved ones. Olga was born in Manhattan on May 7, 1930 to Ethel and Ludevit Hlubik, and resided in NYC, where she graduated from Walton HS in the Bronx. After graduating, she began her business career at Foote, Cone and Belding Advertising Agency, NYC. Olga married her sweetheart, John B. Thompson in July of 1951, and they spent their early married years in Nashville, TN where she enjoyed working for the Life and Casualty Insurance Co. while her husband served in the Army. They settled in Old Bridge, NJ to raise two loving daughters, Stephanie and Claudia. She was happy to be active in the PTA at Glenn Elementary School as well as joyfully serving as a Girl Scout leader. Olga was an original member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Old Bridge, and was a devoted wife, mother, homemaker and grandmother. She enjoyed sewing beautiful crafts and clothing, reading mystery books and had an encyclopedic knowledge of the movies of the 1940's and 50's.She loved cooking, baking and traveling with her husband, especially to Canada, Branson, MO and Oklahoma. Olga and John later moved to the Ponds in Monroe Twp., NJ in retirement. Olga will be remembered for her courageous spirit, quick wit, great sense of humor and ability to lift others up with compliments or words of encouragement. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, John B., daughters, Stephanie and her husband, Cary Evert and grandsons, Harrison and Colin, all of Tulsa, OK, and Claudia Thompson of Milltown, NJ, sister, Evelyn Curtin of Shelton, CT., brother in law, Theodore Thompson of Middletown, NJ and sister in law, Doris Sanford of Ft. Meyers, FL. Olga will be forever in our hearts. Friends and family are invited to celebrate Olga's life at a memorial gathering and service on Saturday Jan. 11, 2014 at 10:00am at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. with services offered at 11:00am, Rev. Phil Ressler, officiating. Private cremation was at the request of the family. Memorial contributions are encouraged to the Monroe Township First Aid Squad, 1 Municipal Plaza, Monroe Twp., NJ 08831.
