Robert W. Gluck – South Brunswick, NJ
Robert W. Gluck former Middlesex Prosecutor and dedicated lawyer, died at his home in South Brunswick on Monday October 28, 2013 surrounded by his family and close friends. Robert was born and raised in Irvington, NJ; he resided in Plainsboro before moving to South Brunswick 12 years ago.
Robert graduated from Rutgers University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science; he then obtained his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers School of Law, Newark (Pi Sigma Alpha), where he was an Associate Editor of the Law Review. He was a law clerk to the Honorable Haydn Proctor, Associate Justice of the New Jersey Supreme Court and served as a Deputy Attorney General in the Division of Criminal Justice. He was a Research Assistant on the Criminal Law Revision Commission and authored articles on Search Warrants and Expungement Procedures.
Robert was a founding member of Gluck, Kelso & Kaplan Law Firm. He was then appointed by Governor James Florio in 1992 as Prosecutor for Middlesex County where he served with distinction until 1998. After leaving the Prosecutor's Office he became a partner at the law firm of Mandelbaum Salsburg, where he continued his law practice.
In private practice he represented clients in criminal law. He had defended clients in the Superior, Appellate, Federal District, Federal Circuit and Supreme Courts of New Jersey. He has had numerous reported cases, authored various articles, and lectured extensively. Robert is perhaps the only lawyer in the State of New Jersey to both prosecute and defend a death penalty case. His past positions include: Chairman of the Capital Punishment Committee, County Prosecutor's Association; First Vice President, New Jersey Prosecutor's Association. He was a member of the National District Attorney's Association. He was also a member of the New Brunswick, Middlesex County, New Jersey State and American Bar Associations, as well as the Trial Lawyers of Middlesex County; Middlesex County 200 Club, New Jersey State Police Chief's Association; and D.A.R.E. - New Jersey (Member, Board of Directors).
Robert was also a member of the Forsgate Country Club and coached little league baseball and pop warner football in Plainsboro, NJ.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Andrea (Craparotta) Gluck of 12 years, two daughters: Christina and Lilly, former wife Kathleen and their three sons: Michael and his wife Rebecca, John Kenneth and his wife Candice, Robert Jr. and his wife Ivy, four grandchildren: Gianna, Sophia, Colton and Elle, a brother John and his wife Elaine and their sons: James and his wife Dawn, Paul and his wife Melissa; father and mother in law, Richard and Mary Craparotta, brother in law, Richard Craparotta. Robert is preceded in death by his parents John and Theresa (D'Amico) Gluck.
Visitation will be on Friday November 1, 2013 from 3-7pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home – 205 Rhode Hall Rd – Monroe Twp. Funeral services will be Saturday November 2, 2013 at 10:00am at the Nassau Presbyterian Church – 61 Nassau Street – Princeton, NJ 08540. Friends and family are asked to meet at the church at 9:30am on Saturday morning.
