A feisty and good-hearted person, Jean Ruckdeschel, also known as Mom, Grandma, and affectionately as GG to her great grandchildren passed away peacefully on Tuesday August 20, 2013. Jean was born in New York City and resided in Northport, LI, Old Bridge, NJ and Matawan, NJ before moving to East Brunswick, NJ.
For many years, Jean was very active in the United States Power Squadron, an activity that allowed her to travel throughout the country, establishing numerous wonderful friendships. She particularly enjoyed managing the ship store at many of the National and Regional conventions.
Her interests revolved around travel, boating and needlepoint. Her main interest was always her family. An excellent cook and baker, Jean always served wonderful meals, and amazing deserts.
Jean is preceded in death by her first husband Edward Miller (1964) and her second husband George Ruckdeschel (1999).
She will be missed by her daughter Arleen Simonetti and her husband John of Matawan NJ, her son Edward Miller of Sparta, NJ, daughter-in-law Carol Miller of Tampa, FL, a brother, Frank Salvagio and his wife Norma of Rochester, NY, her beloved grandchildren Heather Allen and her husband Mike of Kendall Park, NJ, Jennifer Miller of Sparta, NJ, Michael Miller of Tampa, FL, her two great grandchildren Lauren and Brooke Allen and many wonderful friends that always treated Jean like family.
A memorial gathering will take place on Sunday September 15, 2013 from 11am to 1pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555.
