Stanley M. "Romeo" Bystrek died on Thursday March 21, 2013 at Merwick Care and Rehab Center in Plainsboro. He was 84 years old. Born in Helmetta, he was a long-time resident of Monroe Twp. He served in the US Navy. He was an ironworker for a local union in Perth Amboy and was also a Meadowlands Racetrack judge. He was an avid competitive shooter, and won many awards for his skill. He was a retired fireman for the Jamesburg Volunteer Fire Department and a special police officer for the Jamesburg Police Department.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beatrice (nee Wilson) Bystrek, two brothers, Tom, and Scott, and two sisters, Sadie Samuel, Geneva Kioski.
He is survived by his companion Claire Sigle of Monroe Twp., his sister Betty Press, and many other extended family members.
