Uncle Hugh and my wonderful Godfather, I will miss you dearly. I have so many wonderful memories of growing up in this great Irish Catholic family. So many lesson were learned at all the wonderful family gatherings and the heated discussions/debates around dining room tables. Life lessons about religion, politics, and of course sports but most importantly the love, respect and devotion to family. Aunt Susan, Joe, Ed, and Susan I know very well your heart aches with grief but let all your wonderful memories give you some peace during this difficult time. All my love, Kathy

My thoughts and prayers are with the Walsh family. I have thought of Mr. Walsh many times over the past (almost 30) years since I graduated from MTHS. He was funny and kind and caring as others have said. He is one of those teachers who will not be forgotten because he seemed to enjoy being there with the students and he seemed to enjoy talking to us even though we were 'just kids'. I think he loved what he did and that came through to all his students and his athletes. I had him as a co-teacher for my film study class...I loved that class because of him. Blessings and love to you, Mr. Walsh.

To the Walsh Family I extend my deepest sympathy on the passing of this most extraordinary gentleman...Hugh Walsh.

I had the great honor of teaching at MTHS with Hughie for 18 years and everyday he made us smile! He was such a true Irishman with his wonderful wit, easy laughter, and amusing and long stories! Hughie was a dedicated AD and always the the best and funniest speaker at all those sports banquets and retirement parties!

Although I coached the cheerleaders for many years at MTHS, Hughie was the ultimate MTHS cheerleader! He was so very spirited and supportive and such a fabulous teacher and coach and friend!

Some of my fondest memories of Hughie are when we chaperoned the Band and Cheerleaders at all those St.Patricks Day Parades in NY City and he would strut down 5th Avenue waving to the crowds and shaking hands with everyboby as if he was running for office! What a zest for life!!!

The angels are singing because his Irish eyes are smiling down on us!

First and foremost, my sincere wishes of condolences to the Walsh family. May God be with you always, and afford you comfort you during your time of grief and sadness.

Hughie, for as long as I live, I will always smile when I think of you. I had the unique experience of being a student at South River High School when you taught, and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with you as a friend and colleague at Monroe Township High School for twenty-one years. Your positive influence on me and all of the people (faculty, parents and especially students) with whom you interacted will be permanent. A writer once wrote that a "teacher is forever." You will be in our hearts.

I know that I'll have to be "on hold" to connect with God for the time being. Between the Pope resigning and you "moving in for a chat or two," he's going to be very busy. Say hello to Doc (Axelrod) and Dave (Dowding) for me.

To Coach's family - as you have seen - there are many of us who have the absolute upmost respect for all that he did for us as students and athletes at Monroe and South River. His quiet humor at practice, and never-ending lead by example that he instilled in so many people at MTHS and SRHS is legendary... shaping our own thoughts and leadership traits accordingly. We owe him and you, our sincerest gratitude and deepest sympathies at this time.

My sincere condolences to the Walsh family. Mr. Walsh was an amazing man who cared deeply for his athletes. I always had the utmost respect for him and loved his sense of humor. I can still remember him wearing these hideous looking purple and gold striped basketball pants at one of the pep rallies at MTHS. Mr. Walsh, you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace.
