Obituary of Sam S. Shahinian

Mr. Sam S. Shahinian died Sunday Jan 27th at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge. He was 86 years old. Born in Carrollville, WI, he was raised in Racine WI and moved to Monroe Township in 1955.
After receiving his BS in chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, he began his career as a bio-chemist at E R Squibb in New Brunswick. With the help of his wife, he established the S & K Animal Farm in Monroe Twp. which provided research animals to local laboratories. He then began a 30+ year
career with Carter Wallace Co. in Cranbury retiring in 1990. Mr. Shahinian served in the Army in the Central Europe Campaign during WW 2.
He became actively involved in his community of Monroe Twp., serving with the Boy Scouts, as a member and president of the Township Planning Board, and as a member of the Township committee. He was a long time member of the Monroe Township Republican Club.
Mr. Shahinian was predeceased by his parents, Margos and Agnes (Boyajian) Shahinian, a daughter, Rose Marie David, a grandson, Sarkis Shahinian, a brother, Jack and a son in law, Bob Carroll. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Karoline F. (Turke), four sons, Michael and his wife, Doris of Toms River, Sarkis and his significant other, Jerlyn Greulich of York, SC, Margos and his significant other, Bonnie Granitsky of Helmetta, and Karl of Monroe, three daughters, Patricia Carroll, Karoline Breese and her husband Ken, and Jennifer Shahinian and her significant other, Ed Kulesa, all of Monroe Twp. He is also survived by two sisters, Mary Stapanian of Cincinnatti, OH and Alice Bajaksouzian and her husband, Simon of Broadview Heights, OH, 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A visitation will take place Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A prayer service will be offered at 8:30pm at the funeral home. Mr. Shahinian will be cremated and his cremains will be enurned at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum, No. Brunswick on Friday at 11:30am.
