Obituary of George S. Kelly

George S. Kelly, Jr. died on Friday January 4, 2013 at his home in Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. He was 89 years old. Mr. Kelly was born in Jersey City and lived in Staten Island for over 65 years before moving to Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. in 1993. He enjoyed spending the winter months in Naples, FL. He served in the US Army during WWII. Following the war, he sailed with the Merchant Marine as a purser until joining the Esso Standard Oil Co. in NYC where he worked for five years. He had an over 40 year career in the Insurance business mostly as a partner for Khlopin-Kelly Brokerage, also known as K & K Brokerage, in Staten Island. He retired in 1998. He was a former director of Rossmoor Mutual 6, and was a past president and member of the South Shore Rotary Club. He was enthusiastic about playing golf and tennis. He was a former parishioner of St. Rita's RC Church, Staten Island and was a current member of Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp.
He was pre-deceased by his son, Stephen Kelly in 2005, one brother, and one sister.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Claire (nee Wimmer) Kelly of Rossmoor, Monroe Twp., six children, Kevin Kelly and his wife Margaret of Woodridge, Brian Kelly and his wife Rita of Colts Neck, Christine Hesler and her husband Ralph of San Diego, CA, Mark Kelly and his wife Katherine of Staten Island, Janet Faicco and her husband Alfred of Prince's Bay, SI, NY, and Mary Beth Kelly-Snow and her husband John of New Dorp, SI, NY, one daughter-in-law, Carmela Kelly of Keyport, 11 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
Visitation will be Sunday January 6, 2013 from 3-7pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin at 9:15am on Monday January 7, 2013 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be 10:00am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp. followed by Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, SI, NY.
