Obituary of Shirley Rosalyn Lichaw

Mrs. Shirley R. (Winkler) Lichaw died Saturday December 1st at the Merwick Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Plainsboro. She was 88 years old. Born in Brooklyn, she lived in Levittown, LI for 35 years, then moved to Rossmoor in Monroe Township in 1987. The past few years she resided at Merwick. She worked as a library assistant at the Island Trees Public Library in Levittown, LI for 10 years, retiring in 1987. Shirley always gave to others, and was a philanthropist to many organizations, her favorite being the National Gaucher Foundation. Her true joy was volunteering her "caring ways" to the residents at the "old" Merwick facility in Princeton, where she was beloved by all. Her loving husband of 54 years, Milton died in 2002. Surviving are three daughters, Jacqueline Rosner and her husband, Brian of CA, Natalie Rubinstein and her husband Michael of East Meadow, LI, NY and Suzanne Krupskas and her husband Bob of Princeton. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jennifer Remis and her husband, Richard, Shaun Rosner and Andrew Rubinstein, and great grandson, Noah Remis. Graveside funeral services were held Monday December 3rd at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Queens, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Gaucher Foundation 2227 Idlewood Rd.
