Thomas F. Russo, III died Sunday November 25th at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, He was 26 years old. Born in New Brunswick, he lived in East Brunswick for 15 years before moving to Monroe Township 12 years ago.
He attended Academy Learning Center in Monroe Twp., and was the first graduate of the new facility in 2007. Thomas loved to watch his brother and sister play for the Monroe Twp. HS athletic teams, and was an avid NY Jet and NY Yankee fan. Despite overwhelming odds, his smile and determination allowed him to become the oldest living person with his condition in the world—a fact that was reinforced many times over with every birthday- even the last one celebrated just November 18th.
He is survived by his mother, Carol (Torino) Russo of Monroe Twp., his father, Thomas F. Jr. of Manalapan, a brother, Zachary T. and a sister, Nicole A., both of Monroe Twp., a paternal grandmother, Lorraine Russo of Old Bridge, a maternal grandfather, Peter Torino of FL, aunts, Tricia Russo of Matawan who is also his godmother, Marianne Murray of Holmdel and Patricia Calkins of Staten Island, NY, uncles, Scott Murray of Holmdel, who is also his godfather, and Peter Torino of FL. He is also survived by five cousins, Jack and Allie Murray, Kerri Beyers, Lauren Sheppard and Greg Calkins.
Funeral services will be 9:30am Thursday from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am at St. James RCC, Jamesburg. Private cremation will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be Wednesday evening only, 7-9pm, at the funeral home.
