Obituary of Roy H. Cook

Roy H. Cook, 82, died on Sunday October 28, 2012 at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital - New Brunswick, following a courageous battle with cancer. Roy was born in Mount Vernon, NY, he resided in New York, Fanwood, NJ and Walpole, MA., before moving to Monroe Twp.
Roy, a chemist by profession, enjoyed intellectual pursuits; he was an avid bridge player and Go player (ancient Chinese board game) and reader. He enjoyed music and played his clarinet in orchestra's, marched in the Macy's parade with his bagpipes, played Pibroch (classical bagpipes) and sang in various choirs. He was a member of various running clubs and ran in several marathons including the NYC and Boston Marathon. He was also a member of the tennis club in both Concordia and Clearbrook, and the Concordia Players. Roy enjoyed the outdoors; gardening, camping, hiking and downhill and cross country skiing.
Roy is predeceased by his first wife Lea Marie Cook (2002) and a sister Lillian Zeitler.
Roy is survived by his second wife, Emely (Rahid) Cook of Monroe Twp., NJ, one daughter, Laura H. Mattia and her husband Mark of Mountain Lakes, NJ, one son, David L. Cook and his wife Jennifer of Whitman, MA., one brother, Robert Abrams and his wife Carol of Milbrae, CA., and six grandchildren:Christopher and Kyle Stepien, Alexandra and Leamarie Mattia and Jason and Alexander Cook.
