Stephen J. Wass passed away on Sunday September 23, 2012 at his home in Millstone Twp. He was 94 years old. Mr. Wass was born and raised in Manville. He lived in Somerville before moving to Millstone Twp. in 1980. He served in the US Army during WWII. He was a maintenance supervisor for Johns Manville Corp. in Manville for over 30 years and was a builder in Manville. He owned and operated two liquor stores, Somerville Liquors, and later, Millstone Liquors prior to his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen (Gaydos) Wass of Millstone Twp., two daughters, Barbara Midura of Freehold, and Ilona Wass-Stumpf and her husband John of Skillman, one brother, Joseph Wass and his wife Margaret, three sisters, Mary Gecik, Betty Mikalowski, and Rose Blair, three grandchildren, Joseph, Olivia and Douglas, two great grandchildren, and many other extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 8:45am Thursday September 27, 2012 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church, Monroe Twp., followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum, S. Brunswick. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the funeral home.
