Catherine Eva (Cappel) Bennett, 76, beloved wife of Miles Bennett of Monroe Twp. went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, September 7, 2012. She was a devoted and faithful wife, mother, and grandmother. Born in Schuylkill Haven, PA on September 2, 1936, she was a daughter of the late John and Miriam (Romberger) Cappel. She attended Pine Grove High School, Pine Grove, PA as well as Eastern Pilgrim College, Allentown, PA. The Bennetts together were church planters in Damascus, MD and Decatur, GA. They also pastored in Arlington, VA and Jamesburg, NJ. Throughout their ministry, Catherine worked to help provide for the family. She was employed by Crown Photo in Washington, D.C., Bureau of Yards and Docks in Arlington, VA and Fort McPherson near Atlanta, GA. She was a keypunch operator for Goodyear in GA and became group leader when she was transferred to NJ. Catherine (Cathy) has been an active Auxiliary Member of The Gideons International since June 2005. She has served as local camp president and chaplain, training leader and was currently a NJ Regional Program Leader until the time of her death. She took great joy in giving Scriptures and personally witnessing to many with whom she came in contact.
Catherine was pre-deceased by her sister, Jean Burns, wife of Rev. Malcolm Burns of Mount Carmel, PA.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Rev. Miles Bennett of Clearbrook, Monroe Twp., two sons, Darryl Bennett and his wife Laura of Monmouth Junction, and Robert (Bob) Bennett and his wife Mitzi of Kernersville, NC, one brother, John (Jack) Cappel and his wife Mai of Rochester, MI, one brother-in-law, Rev. Malcolm Burns of Mount Carmel, PA, and three grandchildren, Anthony (Tony) Bennett of Monmouth Junction, Joy Harris and her husband Thomas of Pfafftown, NC, and Karen Bennett of Kernersville, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday September 10, 2012 at Calvary Chapel Crossfields, 15 Half Acre Rd. Jamesburg, NJ. Interment will follow in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill, PA. Visitation will be from 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd.
