Obituary of Irving Nussbaum

Mr. Irving "Izzy" Nussbaum died Tuesday May 22nd at the Beth Israel Hospital, Brooklyn, NY. He was 91 years old. Born in Manhattan, he lived for over 59 years in Brooklyn.
He served as the business agent of the Ironworkers Union Local 455 in New York City for 25 years. Later he drove a cab in the city for 10 years, and counted several celebrities among his fares. He served in the US Marines during WW2 and participated in the battle of Okinawa. He was the long time secretary for the United Neustadter Epstein Society in Brooklyn, and was a member of the American Legion and VFW Posts in Brooklyn. He truly enjoyed living life to the fullest and his greatest joy was spending time with his family of whom he was very proud.
Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Hilda (Bitten) Nussbaum, a daughter, Gloria Tucker and her husband, Bobby and a son, Sam and his wife, Chaviva all of Monroe Twp., four grandsons, Glen and Michael Tucker and Jamie and Russell Nussbaum. Also surviving are four great grandchildren, Olivia and Max and Kayla and Rachel.
Funeral services will be at 12pm Thursday at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Township. Interment will follow in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Shiva will be observed Thursday evening, and the family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at Gloria and Bob Tucker's home, Monroe Township.
