Elizabeth "Betty" (Francy) Cullen – Monroe Twp., NJ Elizabeth "Betty" (Francy) Cullen, 83, died Monday May 21, 2012 at St. Peter's University Hospital. Betty, as she was known, was born in Perth Amboy, NJ, and resided in Brooklyn, NY for fifteen years before marrying Thomas Cullen and moving to Kew Gardens Queens, NY. Betty and Tom lived on the same block for 46 years before moving to Monroe Twp., NJ in 1998. Betty was an active member of Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church and, while in Queens, the Holy Child Jesus Church Rosary Society. Her famous lemon meringue pie was always sold out in advance of the annual bake sale. Betty was also a Girl Scout Leader and enjoyed participating in her bowling league. She loved music, her Irish dancing lessons and playing the accordion. She was an avid baseball fan, often leaving school early to watch her beloved Brooklyn Dodgers at Ebbets Field. She later adopted the Mets as her favorite team. Betty is predeceased by her loving husband Tom (2008). She is survived by four daughters: Kathleen Stern and her husband Thomas of Syracuse, NY, Patricia Cullen and her husband Stewart Wheller of Hillsborough, NJ, Eileen Cullen and her husband David Seebaugh of Staten Island, and Maureen Cullen of NYC, two grandchildren, Elizabeth Surry and her husband John, and Kristen Stern; one great grandson, John Thomas Surry and one sister. Funeral services will begin at 9am on Friday May 25th from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Township, NJ. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30am at Nativity of Our Lord R.C. Church, Monroe Twp. Interment will follow at St. Charles Cemetery – Farmingdale, NY.
