Donald C. Ortiz died on Wednesday May 16, 2012 at Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach, FL. He was 79 years old. Mr. Ortiz was born in Tappan, NY. He lived in Jamesburg for 42 years before moving to Clearbrook, Monroe Twp. in 2000. Since his retirement, he has spent six months of the year in Boynton Beach, FL. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a welder for BASF in South Brunswick for 34 years before his retirement in 1995. He was a member of the VFW Post 262 in Monroe Twp., the BPOE Lodge 2180 in Jamesburg, and the American Legion Star Post 127 in Jamesburg. He was pre-deceased by his grandson, Chad Horne. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marian (Caruso) Ortiz of Clearbrook, Monroe Twp., two sons, Edward Horne and his wife Donna of Middletown, and Michael Horne and his wife Laura of Freehold, three daughters, Wendy Ortiz of Jamesburg, Karen Hart and her husband James of Boynton Beach, FL, and Rebecca Mikula of Tinton Falls, one brother, Phillip Orten of Loris, SC, eight grandchildren, Wesley Barton, James A. Hart, Kyle Horne, Melanie Horne, Holly Horne, Nicholas Horne, Christopher Hart, and Allison Horne, and many other extended family members. A Blessing will be 9:00am Friday May 25, 2012 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. Interment will follow in Brgd. Gen. William C. Doyle NJ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers and for those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to one of three organizations: VFW Post 262-Monroe Twp., BPOE Lodge 2180-Jamesburg, or American Legion Star Post 127-Jamesburg.
