Obituary of Anna Marie Citro

Anna Marie (Sorbola) Citro died Wednesday March 28th at St. Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. She was 72 years old. Born in Hoboken, she resided there, and in Jersey City, before moving to Spotswood in 1971. She was a 1957 graduate and class salutatorian at Demarest HS, Hoboken, and received her BA from Jersey City State College in 1961. She furthered her education at Kean College, where she obtained two masters degrees, one in 1983 and a second masters degree in child psychology in 1985. She had a 31 year career in education, starting at Demarest HS in Hoboken, prior to teaching at Spotswood Middle School. She was a biology and general science teacher for 14 years at Monroe Township HS, and finally became a child study team member in child psychology at Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School. She retired in 2000. She held memberships in several professional teaching associations and organizations, and was vice president of the Spotswood Public Library Board of Directors for 20 years. She was also very proud of raising her champion Norwegian forest cat. In her retirement, she took great joy in being involved in activities with her grandchildren, cooking for them, and spending time with them at family gatherings. She was a long time member of Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joseph, two daughters, Donna Marie Citro of Spotswood, and Caryn Ann Ogrodnik of Millstone, two sons, Joseph A. and his wife, Jacklyn of Milltown, and Dominic and his partner, Clayton Armstrong of Los Angeles, CA. Also surviving are nine grandchildren. Funeral services will begin at 9:30am Monday April 2, 2012 from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831, 732-521-0555. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:15am at Immaculate Conception RC Church, Spotswood, followed by Interment in Holy Cross Burial Park, So. Brunswick.
