My beloved geometry teacher from SBHS so many years ago. Mr. Valenti made math accessible and fun, even to a math-phobe like me. He wowed us with his ability to draw a perfect circle--freehand--on the board, and gave me extra credit on a quiz for knowing the name of the theme song to the TV show "Albert Hitchcock Presents." You only remember the best teachers this fondly and to this degree of detail. I am so sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of having Joe Valenti as a teacher for both Geometry and Algebra 2 at South Brunswick High School. He was an outstanding teacher and an even more outstanding person. He most certainly influenced me to pursue a career in teaching and was a driving force in securing my current teaching position in South Brunswick. I can never forget the impact Joe (Mr. Valenti) had on my life.

We were teachers once - and young. And we were pretty much united in our friendships as players on a H.S. softball team, staunch supporters of Reggie's (on one side of the counter ... or the other), and as prisoners of some killer faculty meetings. But those were the 70's - and Joe was an important piece of that jigsaw puzzle - a piece that was essential to make the picture complete. He was a good friend to many, and one who will be remembered by all.

His lasting friendships with former students is a testament to him. I was so sad to hear of his passing; my thoughts and prayers are with Nancy and his children. I hope wonderful memories will comfort you in these sad times.

I am extremely saddened and shocked by Joe's passing. He was a great inspiration to me at our days together at both Perth Amboy High School & Montclair State--in fact, being one year ahead of me, I looked up to him as the brother I never had. Speaking of brother, he was very excited in arranging a Gamma Delta Chi fraternity reunion (long overdue, he said) for this summer. I'm sure it will be a fitting memorial to him.
Though our paths intersected on a few occasions during our educational careers (I taught at John P Stevens HS in Edison), I regret not seeing him more than I did. He was truly a great guy!
My deepest condolences to his entire family.

My heartfelt sympathies go out to Joe's family. Especially to his wife, Nancy. I know the struggles you have gone through to take care of him when he became so ill. You are a loving and dedicated wife. May you find peace in knowing you stood fast in a time of great stress and that Joe is in the hands of the Lord and is free from all worldly pain and suffering.

Joe was a great guy. Being from Sayreville and Joe being from neighboring Perth Amboy, and also being a math major, we had a lot in common and a spent lot of time together for both in the frat and math stuff. You could always rely on him for a funny one-liner or story, especially using his straight man, Don "Hondo" Hunter.
God Bless Joe and the Valenti Family.

Nancy, Joe Jr, and Jen... Our deepest condolences and prayers for all of you during this time of grief. Joe was the best person I have ever known. He was not only a colleague and friend, but he was my mentor as I became an administrator. I will always cherish the days we spent working together in the old conference room at the old HS. His caring manner and attention to detail were always present.
Beyond his professional life, we all knew and felt his love and pride in his family. To visit his home was to understand the value of family. He did not just enjoy his sports, but he demonstrated a true commitment to his teams win or lose. It is hard to think and write of Joe in the past tense for I will always carry his person in my heart....Lester
