James J. Schneider died Saturday March 10, 2012 at home after a long illness. He was 82 years old. long illness. He was born and raised in New Brunswick, NJ resided in North Brunswick Township most of his life before moving to Rossmoor in Monroe Township 11 years ago. He was avid traveler, golfer, surf-fisherman, and card player. He was also a loving father, husband, and devoted to his beloved cat. After serving in the US Army from 1951 – 1953 and achieving the rank of Sergeant, Jim found success as a sales manager for Bianca Motors in New Brunswick, NJ, and later as an Agent/Broker with Prudential Insurance Co. from which he retired after 21 years. After retirement from Prudential, Jim and his daughter Ann Marie owned and operated New Brunswick Travel Agency, North Brunswick for over 15 years. He was active in the Emerald Society, the German-American Club, the Monroe Township and Rossmoor Democratic Clubs, and was an honorary member of the Kiwanis Club of Rossmoor. He was a long time member of Our Lady of Peace RCC, North Brunswick. He is predeceased by his parents James and Anna (Palfy) Schneider. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Punk), son James and his wife Susan of Jackson, daughter Ann Marie and her husband John Burke of North Brunswick, grandsons Jeffery and Matthew Burke and a sister-in-law Eileen and her husband Joseph Casey of Brick. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at 9:00am from M. David DeMarco Funeral Home 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00am at Our Lady of Peace RCC, North Brunswick. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be Monday March 12th from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund (vitascharityfund.org) or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
