Obituary of George A. Stampoulos

George Stampoulos, 70, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at his home in Monroe Twp.  George was born and raised in Jersey City, where he lived until moving to Monroe Twp. in 1985.  He was a teacher at P.S. 28 in Jersey City for 38 years, until his retirement in 2010.  George was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Fr. Mychal Judge Division 1 Hudson County, where he served as treasurer.  He was also the recording secretary for the Hudson County Board, state photographer for the State Division and an active member of the Jersey City St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee.  George loved music, photography, and gardening.  He liked his music loud, his beer cold, and he could play the guitar better than you.  The neighborhood will be a quieter place without him.  Sláinte.    

George was pre deceased by his parents, Charles and Elsie Stampoulos, and his father-in-law, William Sullivan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Linda (Kufka) Stampoulos of Monroe Twp., two daughters, Alissa Stampoulos and her fiance Kevin Chabra of Jamesburg and Erika Stampoulos of Monroe Twp., his mother-in-law, Emmy Sullivan of Matawan and his grandson, Ryan Chabra.  Also surviving are many extended family members and friends.  

Visitation will be 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Friday May 24, 2019 and 9:30-10am on Saturday May 25, 2019 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ  08831.  Funeral services will begin at 10am on Saturday from the funeral home.  Entombment will follow in Forest Green Park Cemetery - Morganville.
