Obituary of Catherine A. Fodor

Please share a memory of Catherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Catherine A. (Brown) Fodor, 61, passed away suddenly at home on March 1, 2019. She was born on June 26, 1957, and grew up in North Brunswick with her four siblings. After she graduated from Highland Park High School, Cathy attended Montclair State University and received her associates degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked for The Wooden Nickel and Arthur’s in North Brunswick, as well as with the Middlesex County Parks and Recreation Department. For the last 18 years, Cathy loved working around children while employed with Metz Food Services at Brookside School in Monroe Township. On August 17, 1991, she married the love of her life, her sincerest soulmate, and best friend, Tony Fodor. Together, they raised two children in Monroe Township, Daniel Jackson and Emily Catherine.

Cathy had a passion for serving others; she knew exactly what every person needed, never forgot to bake a birthday cake or send a care package, and developed so many friendships that she cherished throughout her life. Her family was most important to her, and she often put others ahead of herself without a second thought. Whether you ran into her at the Rutgers game or at the grocery store, she greeted you with a smile, a laugh, and a thoughtful question. Cathy never met a person who would ever forget her.

After 27 years of marriage, Cathy and Tony simply loved spending every minute possible together. They found humor in the little things in life, which truly strengthened their bond day by day. They enjoyed laughter, life, and private times with each other.

Aside from having each other, the greatest thing they could have given to the world was their two children.  Cathy was deeply devoted to her children and was so very proud, thankful, and happy about the individuals she and Tony raised them to be. She would do absolutely anything to help them in whatever they needed, and would go to the ends of the earth to make sure they were happy, healthy, and safe.

Cathy always reminded Daniel and Emily to smile, be kind, and work their hardest; because there was no alternative. No matter what she was doing, she would drop anything to answer the phone, and if you needed her, jump in the car to help. That’s what she did best. Cathy would never hang up the phone or send a text without saying “love you, love you, love you.” She didn’t want anyone to forget.

Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Winifred V. Brown, in 2012, and father, Harris R. Brown, in 1987.

She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Tony, and their two children Daniel and Emily, her four siblings; Richard H. Brown and his wife Christine of Duxbury, MA, Robert C. Brown and his wife Linda of Madison, WI, Winifred V. Brown of Monroe Township, NJ, and Gregory Q. Brown and his wife Anna-Louise of Barrington Hills, IL, her brother-in-law, William C. Fodor of Davie, FL, six nieces and nephews, six great nieces and nephews, and many other extended family members for whom she cared deeply.
