Obituary of Silvia de la Vega

Silvia de la Vega, 87, passed away on Friday February 1, 2019 at Merwick Care and Rehabilitation Center in Plainsboro. Silvia was born in Havana, Cuba and came to the US in 1955. She resided in New York, Florida and back to New York before moving to Rossmoor, Monroe Twp. in 2000. Silvia was employed by JC Penney in New York City for 26 years as a catalog coordinator and at Macy's for 30 years as a salesperson until her retirement in 2001. Silvia was preceded in death by her brother, Guido E. de la Vega, PHD (2018). She is survived by two sisters: Yolanda de la Vega and Olga Hernandez, both of Brooklyn. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Visitation will be from 6-8pm on Monday February 4, 2019 at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Rd. Monroe Twp., NJ 08831. Funeral services will begin at 9:30am on Tuesday February 5, 2019 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 10am at St. James the Less RC Church - 36 Lincoln Ave., Jamesburg, NJ 08831 followed by a private cremation. Interment of cremated remains will be 1pm on Friday February 8, 2019 at Maple Grove Cemetery, Queens, NY.
