Obituary of Eric M. Farrugia

Eric M. Farrugia, 82, died on Monday December 3, 2018 at his residence in Monroe Township. Eric was born on April 10th 1936 in Southampton, England and grew up in Southampton and eventually followed his love of the sea and became a merchant mariner that eventually led him to work on the original Queen Mary. After traveling the world on the luxury liner as a steward, he then decided to fulfill another dream which was to make a new life for himself in America. He soon after received his permanent citizenship and resided in NYC. Soon after he met and married his wife of 54 years, his beloved Theresa. Through the years, they lived in Monroe, New York, back to NYC, and eventually settled in Monroe Twp., New Jersey. Eric worked 28 years at Technicon Corp. and then opened Auntie Anne’s franchises until retirement. Eric, Theresa and their family continued to enjoy their home in Maryland, by the sea. There is where many family memories have been made and cherished. He will be lovingly remembered for his love of family and friends, his amazing smile that lit up a room, his faith, and his contribution and time with the Children's Miracle Network. Eric was preceded in death by three brothers: Sonny, John and Edward. He is survived by his wife, Theresa of 54 years of marriage, his daughter and son in law Lisa and Tom Newell, his daughter and son in law Karen and Greg Stone and his daughter and son in law Joanne and Victor Goldbetter. He is also survived by his siblings Mary, Phil, Janet, Alfred and his grandchildren Alison, Brianna and Kristen, not to mention his beloved 4 legged family dogs; Hobbs, Bella, Frenchie and Gidget. Family and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday, December 5, 2018 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, Inc. - 205 Rhode Hall Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 - 732-521-0555. Funeral services will begin at 8:45am on Thursday December 6, 2018 from the funeral home. A funeral liturgy will be 9:30am on Thursday at Nativity of Our Lord RC Church - 185 Applegarth Rd., Monroe Twp., NJ 08831 followed by entombment in Holy Cross Burial Park Mausoleum - South Brunswick.
