Such an intelligent, funny, loving man. So often the voice of reason, the one who looked at things from both sides and stopped you in your tracks. I was around five when Marilyn and he started dating in high school...he was the only male in our family of five females for a long time...and then went on to have three daughters. He had to have a sense of humor!
From the rides in his convertible, to the school bus he drove in college (and drove to our house to pick up Marilyn in), driving to the hospital when Donna was born and fishtailing in that yellow car, to the red VW bug I inherited from him in the 70s (the photo of toddler Donna washing it on the driveway in Carlstadt), to the minivan he drove so he could take as many grandchildren out at one time...Don's life can be told in his cars and the people he shared them with.
The price of loving someone is the pain when they leave us. Having had someone in your life to miss so dearly, especially a grandparent, is a true gift.
As for me, I love you like a brother. Thanks for being a best friend to my sister.

Our family always thought of Don as the stoic, rock-solid partner to Marilyn's wry wit and he will surely be missed most awfully. My dad having passed many years ago, it's the absolute truth that I feel his presence so very often. I can believe that those who love Don will have a similar feeling and in that way, if not in other ways, his legacy will endure. Best wishes to the Rohrbach gang in this holiday season.
